标题是：Hit-and-run toddler who Chinese ignored dies.

The Chinese are definitely desensitized to human brutal(ity) than a lot of other human societies. Just look at their VERY recent history!
Famines due to Govt policies, eating cats/dogs/human fetus as a delicacy, the brutal way of enforcement of the One-Child Policy and “blood-smeared GDP”!
But, who cares right? It’s none of our business and we just want our goods cheap…….

eating ….. fetus as a delicacy ” Can you give us some evidence of this ?

Let’s not focus on where the 2yr girl died but think about the prohibitive laws of blame/compensation that is overriding human nature worldwide.
No, let’s focus on where it happened.
18 British people would not walk past a dying child.

Mao killed 70 million people during his reign, and I think he managed 20 million of those in 1962 alone. This is a country whereby utter and complete animalistic brutality was the norm for the majority of the 20th Century under the Nationalists and even more so under the communists as they sacrificed the people to facilitate their want of super power status, ultimately dehumanising their own society. Therefore, the only people this comes as a shock to is us, here in the West. And I think the attitudes of those who walked past the child pretty much highlights this differing attitude over there as opposed to over here.

@ Trev – and all the other bigots
The only thing I find odd about your post is that I am not tonight outraged by its obscenity ( must be the events of the last 24hours). However this is truly one of the most blindly bigoted sentiments I have ever read in a British newspaper – honestly.
You might as well have said, Europe in the 20th Century saw a level of barbarism that the human race had never seen in the entire history of human existence thus proving Europeans are innate sociopaths with a total indifference to human suffering – unlike the Chinese, who find the details of the various wars and genocides of the European 20th Century unfathomable.
I am in China right now – and I can assure maga-bigots like Trev that the Chinese are as saddened, outraged and perplexed by this incident as the rest of us – they are currently undergoing a lot of soul searching and self-examination.
Here is my observation on the Chinese urban character – people are people ( what a shocker ), and the Chinese are only slightly more socially aware than the people of say, London. The great city in which I have spent the last 27 years of my life. The Chinese are just slightly more socially aware and this despite the absolute level of poverty in China, as opposed to the relative poverty you find in London – but as i say, people are people and given an even playing field we are all the same.
So Trev – stop getting off on your moral superiority and try understanding the whole picture – rather than jerking to the headlines.
And sorry if this spoils your bigotry inspire superiority spasm – but it is the fact – and any half intelligent human being know it to be so.
