诗文点缀了小镇

昨天到Romsey去,这是家附近的一个小镇。

小镇古典风情佳,诗文就写在蓝匾牌上。

诗文也刻在路上的石板上。

没想到,1100年,英格兰国王威廉二世(King Rufus)利箭穿心,神秘死亡后,遗体也曾经过这里。这个国王,不怎么讨人喜欢,小学生都知道,这个坏国王就死在新森林(The New Forest)的一棵橡树旁,可能是给护卫他的骑士(叫Walter Tyrrell)射死的。真的是射鹿时发生意外吗?还是另有内幕?

有史学家说,威廉二世对历史最大的贡献,就是死得这么不明不白,有戏剧效果,茶余饭后,任人消遣,功德无量。
